Smoothies are a good idea, not only for practicality, but also for health purposes.
For years I have always started my day with a healthy breakfast smoothie. Why? because they’re quick, easy, and all the nutrition that your body needs can be provided by a blend of fruits and proteins.

Every morning and every night I start and end my day with a smoothie. I do this to help my body to rebuild my muscles after my workout and to help me stay energized for the day
The nutrition is a big benefit and really shows how healthy smoothies are.
Take this for example, in my morning smoothie these are the macros. 25 grams of protein, 40 grams of carbs, 5 grams of fat, and 2 grams of dietary fibre. This comes to a total of 350 calories.
The macros from this smoothie are not only incredibly healthy, but they will help to rebuild and energize your body.

Here are 6 simple reasons why you should drink smoothies.
It’s healthy: So many people completely neglect their health, and it takes a toll on them. After a few days of consuming fruit packed smoothies, you will notice a rise in energy levels and a lighter feeling.
Practicality: Most people don’t have time to make pancakes every morning. It only takes 3 minutes to make a healthy breakfast smoothie. In addition to that, they are perfect for taking on the go with you.
Weight loss/gain: This is one of the most significant reasons why smoothies are healthy and why you should drink them. The smoothie that I like to make only has 350 calories. This is enough to energize my body but still keep it in a calorie deficit to lose weight.
Staying hydrated: A lot of people suffer from dehydration. Therefore, people have to deal with headaches, loss in concentration, and in some cases dizziness. However, fruit in smoothies is packed with natural liquids. For example, apples and oranges. This juice will hydrate you and provide you with essential vitamins and minerals.
Volume. If you are trying to bulk up in the gym or gain weight, then you will understand how hard it is to eat a lot of food in a single sitting. If you put all the nutrition, you need into a smoothie you will have at least half the volume of the meal.

Feel free to experiment in your own ways. There’s just about an endless number of flavours, textures, and tastes. You can also use different ingredients. For example, not everyone is going to need to take 2 scoops of protein a day.

Like with anything in life there are some negative points about drinking fruit smoothies.
Smoothies can be quite costly: If you are using whole organic and natural products in your smoothie every day, then the costs will stack up.

Another costly ingredient can be milk. If you only use almond or soya milk, then over a week the price will definitely stack up. Even though those ingredients are healthier, smoothies are meant to be cheap.
Sugar content: The quantity of sugar in a fruit smoothie is surprising for most people. However, remember that this is natural sugar known as fructose.
Fructose is a naturally occurring sugar in fruits. In small quantities it is healthy, this does not mean that you can eat as much of it as you want. Everyone knows that sugar can cause problems such as diabetes and tooth decay.
How Much Fructose is Too Much?
Accordingly to dieticians, 50g of fructose a day is the recommended amount. However, remember fructose is a lot healthier than regular sugar. It occurs naturally in the foods that we already eat.
If you do already have a lot of sugar in your diet or suffer from diabetes or high blood pressure, then you need to take this into consideration.

Homemade smoothies are not only incredibly healthy, but they can also be used for weight loss.
In the protein smoothie recipe that I mentioned above, you consume 25 grams of protein, 40 grams of carbs, 5 grams of fat, and 2 grams of dietary fibre. This adds up to roughly 350 calories.
350 calories isa considerable amount less than your average bowl of cereal or any other traditional breakfast food.
If you are trying to lose weight, then you should drink smoothies.
Despite these negatives’ points, you should still drink smoothies, just remember the two negative points above. Fruit smoothies can improve your body’s health big time. Smoothies are very healthy.
